Charter

EPIGEN is:
1) A consortium, founded in 2005 at Duke University, that is made up of the four founding and active clinical sites (London, Dublin, Brussels, Durham), which agree to maintain active epilepsy DNA collections and clinical data as part of their participation in EPIGEN. The consortium meets annually. 2) EPIGEN has scientific leadership.
3) EPIGEN seeks to foster collaborations within affiliated groups and amongst EPIGEN and other groups.

Responsibilities of the EPIGEN chair

The chair should act as a point of contact for discussions between EPIGEN and large consortia (including EPI4k and EPIPGX). As such, any approaches about EPIGEN collaborations should be routed to the chair for communication to the leadership group. The chair is responsible for coordinating any necessary consultations and resulting votes, as well as having a tie breaking vote if needed. Note that sites will always have veto over any particular use of their own samples. An individual shall serve as chair for a period of 12 months and will rotate between founding sites.
